EGX Launches the First Mid and Small Cap Market in the MENA Region

The Minister of Investment; Dr. Mahmoud Mohei El Din, together with EGX Chairman; Mr. Maged Shawky, have launched today October 25 th 2007, EGX new market for medium and small enterprises (NILEX), which is the first mid and small cap market in the MENA region. The new market will provide medium and small companies with a long term access to capital, which helps them grow their businesses and increase their competitiveness as well as raise their contribution to the economic growth.

EGX Organizes a Workshop for Mid & Small ICT Companies to be Listed on Nilex

The The Egyptian Exchange, in collaboration with Eitesal Association, held yesterday, 15 April 2008, a workshop for Mid & Small ICT companies, highlighting the benefits of getting listed on Nilex; the newly launched mid and small cap market in the stock exchange. The workshop was attended by representatives from almost 70 ICT companies, who are interested to tap the stock market to raise capital for the expansion and development of their businesses, together with the nominated advisors as well as a number of ICT associations, funding agencies and major projects for SMEs.

The listing of the first two companies on Nilex

In a press conference held in the Egyptian Stock Exchange on 12 June 2008, the Minister of Investment Dr. Mahmoud Mohi El-Din together with EGX Chairman Maged Shawky announced the listing of the first two companies on Nilex; the newly launched mid and small cap market. The Press conference was attended by representatives from entities supporting medium and small enterprises in Egypt; together with a number of investment banks leaders as well as the nominated advisors. The first company belongs to the Information Technology and communication Sector, while the second company belongs to the plastic manufacturing sector; Masria Card issued capital is almost LE 10.8 million while El-Badr Plastic issued capital is LE 1.7 million.

EGX Participates in a Workshop about the Financing Constraints Faced by SMEs in Egypt

Within the framework of The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) plan to promote for NILEX, EGX participated on January 11, 2010 in a workshop organized by the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) about the main financing constraints faced by SMEs in Egypt. Moreover, EGX will participate in another workshop organized by EJB about Nilex on Wednesday, January 20, 2010.

EGX Organizes a Workshop for a Number of Promising IT Companies to Be Listed on Nilex

The Egyptian Exchange, in collaboration with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), organized a workshop on Monday, January 18, 2010 to introduce NILEX project for a number of promising IT companies and the benefits of getting listed on Nilex. The workshop was attended by a number of companies listed on the program of technological incubators sponsored by ITIDA. Additionally, a number of nominated advisors was attended, aiming at putting the nominated advisors along with the companies wishing to be listed on Nilex.

Two NILEX workshops in the 10 th of Ramadan City, and Sohag

Within the attempts of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) management to promote for NILEX and to show its advantages to finance SMEs, EGX launched an intensive promotional campaign in the various Egyptian governorates, started on 15 March 2010 with a workshop that was held in the investors' association of the 10 th of Ramadan city, where Dr. Mohamed Omran, EGX Vice-Chairman and the head of NILEX advisory committee introduced the main advantages of NILEX and its role in financing the medium and small companies and give them the opportunity for growth.

NILEX sponsors "The Guide to Finance and Financial Services"

Within its attempts to support SMEs sector, NILEX sponsored the issuance of (the guide to finance and financial services and tools in Egypt) to help in financing SMEs, issued by the Egyptian Junior Business association (EJB) in a ceremony for this occasion organized on 31st March 2010 with the participation of NILEX and other associations, financial institutions and experts in this field.

Mr./ Maged Shawky, EGX Chairman gave a speech about NILEX importance in the financing SMEs and its role in the Egyptian economy and the efforts made to activate it.

Outstanding Trading Appetite during the First Trading Session in NILEX

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) launched on Thursday 3 June 2010 the first trading session in the Nile Stock Exchange (NILEX), the first market for growing medium and small companies in the MENA region. The Chairman of EGX, Maged Shawky, announced that the first trading session witnessed a significant demand from the investors where the asks significantly exceeded the bids. He added that 4 companies were traded during the first trading session, recording a total trading volume of 1.4 million shares worth LE 10 million. The shares' prices registered significant increases in the first trading session compared to their par value.

NILEX Awareness Forum for the IT companies

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) together with the Information Technology Industry Development Association (ITIDA) seek to attract more technology companies to get listed on NILEX. In this respect, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Salam, EGX Chairman, asserted that EGX looks forward to put up "NILEX" as the first Arab stock market for small and medium enterprises that aims at enhancing the IT industry. On the other hand, Eng. Yasser El Kady, CEO of ITIDA, confirmed that the association will support 50% of the listing cost of the information technology companies.

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and The General Authority for Investment (GAFI) Sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Tuesday, November 1st, The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and The General Authority for Investment (GAFI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation aiming to attract new companies to list on the Egyptian stock market for small and medium enterprises; Nile Stock Exchange (NILEX). During the press conference following the MOU signature, Dr. Mohamed Omran, Chairman of EGX, emphasized on the mutual cooperation between EGX and GAFI in supporting small and medium enterprises, with sound financial standing, and enabling them to diversify their access to finance. He noted that GAFI has provided EGX with a large database of potential NILEX candidate companies.

EGX launches NILEX New Trading System

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) started on Sunday, November 13th activating its new trading system for NILEX, as well as applying the listing rules amendments, which were announced during the press conference that was held on the same day. Dr. Mohamed Omran, Chairman of EGX, stated that the surveillance system in use in the main market will be applied in NILEX, whereby in the upcoming period EGX will receive from the Egyptian Financial Supervision Authority the file of the Nominated Advisors. Dr. Omran added that EGX is keen to publish the financial indicators of NILEX companies either via NILEX website or the media to help investors in their investment decisions.

A Workshop in collaboration with the General Authority for Investment (GAFI)

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) in collaboration with the General Authority for Investment (GAFI) organized a workshop to highlight NILEX importance as an effective SMEs financing tool. The workshop is considered as an implication of the memorandum of understanding signed between EGX and GAFI on November 2011 to benefit of the huge database available at GAFI.That event which was attended by interested SMEs companies, focused on NILEX role in listing and trading companies, listing benefits, the value added and the positive impact on the listed companies' administrative and operational capabilities.
